it seems to be the theme where I live. Imbolc of '03 was surprisingly right on schedule. Walked outside that morning to discover everything melting and drippy. But in the years following that, Imbolc came generally a week early. But, today, it is officially Imbolc in Southern Wisconsin!
Earlier I mentioned a few wonderful herbs that are great for use during pregnancy, labor, and lactation (Herbal Aids for Pregnancy.) I wanted to follow up with that because having a natural pregnancy is so much more possible than it is being made out to be. Although Natural Medicine has made huge progress towards widespread acceptance, it is still considered "quackery" by many. Despite how you may personally feel about the matter, let me offer a few more natural methods that I've used successfully to relieve some of the common discomforts many women experience during pregnancy.
As I've progressed further and further down my spiritual path, I find that I've gradually been pulled toward a more simplistic approach to it all. Though, granted, I still take part in more formal forms of religious expression with our coven, but my personal practice has become so much more subtle, yet all encompassing, aspect of my life, that I wonder if many would recognize the spiritual tones at first glance.
In spite of making your intentions quite clear and despite their apparent "acceptance," once you've made the "announcement" to your family that you'll be raising you children in your non-Christian faith, it still not uncommon to experience a little backlash. This can come about in a variety of forms, but in the case of my family, this comes about in two main forms: denial, and "well-meaning" subtle sabotage.
It's not hard to live a magickal life, though it, admittedly, does require some effort. Here are three simple things that anyone can do to greatly increase the flow of magick in their life.
Make it part of your daily practice. If something is truly important to you, you'll make time for it in your life. And making a place for it each day not only shows your commitment and dedication, but the repetition of doing magick each and every day not only makes it habitual and an ingrained part of your routine, but it heightens your abilities. Seems obvious, doesn't it: the more you consciously do magick the easier it becomes and then magick becomes more apparent in your life. As the Sun gently slips beneath the Western horizon, a Full, pregnant Moon slowly climbs up out of the East. The energy of this Moon has been building determinedly. Joined now, auspiciously, by Jupiter and Uranus, the night is full of promise and opportunity.
The tingling in the air is unmistakable, the possibilities endless. Embrace the cold of the Winter night, call to the Lady, and make your request. Winter's are notorious for wreaking havoc on skin and hair what with the combination of cold, dry air outside and the hot, dry air inside. It's time when lips are chapped, hair is brittle, and the skin at your finger tips cracks and splits. While it's easy enough to shrug it off and "patiently" wait for warmer weather it's also just as easy to make a high quality natural moisturizer with items you most likely already have in your kitchen.
The Universe has a certain order to things, rules that determine not just what can and cannot be but also how and why. While we may more than likely never come to realize even half of these Universal Laws, through introspection, contemplation, and rumination we can become aware of the existence of some of these Laws and the reach of their effects within our own lives.
Finding it hard to think tonight (so forgive me if I lose cohesion at times...) but it certainly makes it easy for a meditative state to set it. Given the way that things have been going this past week, I'm counting that as a blessing. Still reeling from a promise made to the Universe and my Gods, things seem to be in a constant state of flux and change. Considering that things had been stagnant for so long, this, too, should be a blessing. But, I'm a Taurus and, though surprisingly adaptable, I don't tend to like change, even if all of this will lead to better things.
It's no secret that 2010 was a very difficult year for many people. Aside from the obvious economic struggles, many of us also faced varying health problems, the like of which were completely unknown before. The year was one filled with change, to the extreme, completely inline with the numerological association of the year with the number three (2+0+1+0=3.) Three is a number of transformation, of spontaneity, and of fire.
