Tossing Pebbles- a Challenge

6/3/2011

One of my favorite metaphors is ripples, in fact they're sort of a fascination of mind and a point of focus for me as a Pagan Minister. I like to use the analogy of tossing pebbles and watching the ripples spread. It shows how every action, and inaction, we make causes change larger than we can ever have proof of, that just like the pebble tossed into a pond, the effects literally ripple outward till they reach the far shore. And, just like a pebble, these actions can be small and still have a remarkable reach.

So, here is my challenge to you. I want you to make one small positive change within your life, anything. Remember, it has to be something small, something practical that you can actually achieve but does require some effort on your part. Ideally, this change should be something you choose to stick to every day, some sort of permanent change that effects your daily actions.

Just one small simple thing, that's all I ask. Maybe you'll start taking shorter showers, or spend more time outside, or try to smile at everyone you interact with. Just one small, little thing.

Toss a pebble ...and watch the ripples spread.
